About WizKids and our Principal, Melinda Siew
WizKids opened its first after-school centre in Kuching on 1 October 2018. It was founded by Melinda Siew Yin Ching, an educator with years of experience in school leadership and examinations, to give primary school children a clean, caring and well-taught place to spend their afternoons.

Why Melinda started WizKids
Melinda founded WizKids in October 2018 after observing common shortfalls across after-school centres: unbalanced meals, multiple age groups crowded into single rooms, and a single teacher stretched thin across every subject.
She also saw that bullying and children's emotional well-being were frequently overlooked. WizKids was built to solve each of these challenges with freshly cooked nutritious meals, age-segregated small classrooms capped at 12 students, dedicated subject-specialist teachers, and an emotionally safe environment where staff actively notice when a child is struggling.
Since then, WizKids has grown from its first centre to three, opening a second centre in 2022 and a third in 2026.
